Quick question... does anybody know the command to launch the Network Identification Wizard in XP? It is not "rundll32.exe netplwiz.dll,NetAccWizRunDll" like it is for Win2k. I thought I saw it somewhere here but maybe I was wrong. _________________ "ah, come take my hand... we're ridin' out tonight to face the promised land"

Those of you into the whole API thing (still gobbledegook to me! ) may find this resourse handy.
Online API Viewer.

Because I dont yet understand API's this link could be great, but could equally be rubbish. Hope its not a waste of anyones time.

Hey Sanjuro!
Thanks for the sites but I couldn't find what I was looking for on them... all the info is the same across the different sites. Mostly it's Win9x/Win2k stuff with some stuff bleeding over into WinXP. Thanks for the help though! _________________ "ah, come take my hand... we're ridin' out tonight to face the promised land"

| Code: | Add Network Place Wizard
rundll32.exe netplwiz.dll,AddNetPlaceRunDll
Add a dot net passport:
rundll32.exe netplwiz.dll,PassportWizardRunDll
Web Publishing Wizard
rundll32.exe netplwiz.dll,PublishRunDll
User Accounts
rundll32.exe netplwiz.dll,UsersRunDll |
These are a few functions I found in the netplwiz.dll that can be used by rundll in XP. You can download my 100 Control panel functions for VDS which provides a convenient way to test these functions on the fly and copy them at the same time.
You can find it on this page.

Thanks for digging around for those CodeScript!
Maybe there is a different way of doing what I'm trying to accomplish... a long time ago I created a program that would let you edit a Win98 computer's network settings directly instead of having to go into the Network Control Panel. You enter the IP address, subnet mask, gateway, computer name, domain name, etc. all on one page, reboot and viola! It's a very handy program but now that we have many XP Pro machines at work, I would like to update the program to be able to do the same for the NT based OS. Everything is working well except for the domain part. I can't seem to reproduce what the Network Identification Wizard does in changing the domain the computer is a member of so I thought I would just include a button to launch the wizard. Is there a JoinDomain API that would be able to do the same thing? _________________ "ah, come take my hand... we're ridin' out tonight to face the promised land"

You could try using NETDOM.exe from the resource kit? it will allow you to do this, here is the syntax.
The syntax of this command is:
NETDOM HELP command
-or-
NETDOM command /help
Commands available are:
NETDOM ADD NETDOM RESETPWD NETDOM RESET
NETDOM COMPUTERNAME NETDOM QUERY NETDOM TRUST
NETDOM HELP NETDOM REMOVE NETDOM VERIFY
NETDOM JOIN NETDOM RENAME
NETDOM MOVE NETDOM RENAMECOMPUTER
You need Netdom JOIN:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
NETDOM JOIN machine /Domain:domain [/OU:ou path] [/UserD:user]
[/PasswordD:[password | *]]
[UserO:user] [/PasswordO:[password | *]]
[/REBoot[:Time in seconds]]
Cheers

Not a bad solution... I didn't even think to check for a command line tool. I'll give it a try. Thanks Sanjuro! _________________ "ah, come take my hand... we're ridin' out tonight to face the promised land"
