Here is a unit (the code) to find Internet Explorer version.
Code: |
#Find Internet Explorer Version
#Define function,IEVer
# %t = @IEVer()
# %t will be the IE version or null
:IEVer
if @file(@windir(System)\shdocvw.dll)
if @OK()
%%out = @verinfo(@windir(System)\shdocvw.dll,V)
else
%%out =
end
end
exit %%out

Especially if you're making an application which incorporates the
BROWSER element, then you can check for compatibility.
BTW, if the user doesn't have the right version of IE what will you
app do? Crash with an error? Or just not use the browser? _________________ FreezingFire

Good question. I would just check for the IE ver on the app startup, if the version is not right warn the user to upgrade IE then exit out. _________________ Chris

Hey Chris!
On my system your routine returns another version than MSIE states in its own About box.
Why not use something like this:
Code: | %%ver = @REGREAD(LOCAL,SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer,Version) |

I thought about that, but, the registry key is different for different versions of IE. On my system, the key is:
LOCAL,SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Version Vector,IE
How far off the the DLL version for IE? It should be the same. _________________ Chris

Well, I think most times all the info you would need is the main version. 4, 5 etc... That the important part. _________________ Chris
