marty,

download the file in your initial post, created a folder on my desktop called TEST 2 and copied all the files into there

i then double clicked on the exe file and got error 42 at line 22

i must say that i did this while logged in as a peasant ie. restricted permissions under xp

For those who got the error 42 at line 22, can you reproduce this all the time?

And when it happens all the time, is it in a folder that is not an 8.3 dos name?

Thanks,,, I cant repro here Sad

Ok figured it out the error 42 at line 22 thing..

It's the directory structure that has a period in the directory name like:

c:\test.folder\

if you take the period out it works great.

Thanks Bill..

But still I dont understand why.. the error happens in my code when I set the class name of the VDS app to the DLL... makes no sense to me..

Anyway.. here is a new version with a couple of new features.

I am almost done with the DSU and will release a package with them and a basic help file so everyone can code away with those DLLs...

you can download it from:

http://www.extremesenses.com/thumbs/thumbviewer.zip

I added a couple of things in the VDS code to hopefully resolve the error 42 problem. If its a DLL issue it will be a dead end for me.. cause like I said I cant recompile the DLLs.

Thanks

Still works fine here. Like the new features - very cool little app, hope it all works out for you to release it.

got it working marty, it was indeed the '.' in the file path name ... it looks fantastic although a tad slow for my liking to load images from the thumbnail but i can live with it ... am using 'amd xp 2000+' under xp and 512mb ram (the chip runs at 1.67G)

haven't tried your latest offering yet

good job it looks and works great Smile

marty,

the '.' still causes a problem (line 55 from memory)

can i suggest you make the drop down transition list a read only one so folks can't edit any of the txt Smile

with the transition effect on NONE, the images included in your program take me 1-2 sec to load after clicking on the thumbnail ... i know it is not long but it seems like an eternity ... is that the feedback you wanted?

Thanks Serge..

I will look into those issues..

When you say the thumbnail viewer is slow on your machine, do you mean slower than Windows XP thumbnail viewer?

Right click on an image file, choose "Open with" and then select "Windows viewer for images and faxes" or something like that... Smile
