Hi guys,
I would need help on the following task:
I have a tab-separated text file, which holds around 5.000 book descriptions.
Some have been hold for too long a time. Mostly because of a price, which does not match reality anymore.
Now I would like to automatically compare the price against competing offers.
This is usually being done through checking the site www.ZVAB.com. (Usually a German forum, but if offers an English menue as well.)
ZVAB allows a great way to do price research, if you use the following link, which one usually will set to ones desktop (or elsewhere):
http://www.zvab.com/SESS151685822310382920658/gr2/de/content.html?noimage=1
If you start the page from here on, you are being presented an extra window, which holds what your research request found.
This is extremely helpful, whenever you do a bigger stack of books. You enter the keywords of say seventy-nine titles. Afterwards you switch to the second window that has opened and use backspace to find your 79 results one after another.
Here is the next detail: If one does the research, one ought to set the page to present 100 (instead of the preset first 10 matches). All else is a drag and would spoil any automatic search.
Here is my basic list format:
alteNR LfdNr Buchautor Vorname Buchtitel Untertitel Baende Verlag Ort Land Jahr Auflage Einband Zustand Seitenzahl Format Inhalt Bilder Bemerkungen Wert Hauptstichwort Sachebene2 Sachebene3 SW1 Gesch Geo SPR Datum neueNR NR ISBN
Authors last name is "Buchautor", title is "Buchtitel", date is found in "Datum", publishing company is in "Verlag".
The job, I would need to be done is like this:
- enter the content of “Buchautor” and “Buchtitel” into the search field (one after one)
- find out the lowest price and enter this one into an extra field, next to “Preis”
Later I would need further advances on this, but for the moment this is the base, which would need to run first.
The reason behind it is, that I first need to compare it in reality, if it not only works technically, but which improvements ought to be made in practise ...
I wouldn`t mind, if anyone tells me, this does not work in vds, I should use VBA, I am just curious from which base to start on.
Thanks for all kinds of help.

Due to my own impatience and a fat misunderstanding on my side I had originally asked the webmaster on this project.
That way I had caused him working hours and got laid off.
Great apologies for that. Surely hadn`t meant it. It has mainly been a damn misunderstanding.
Hope to talk to you later again.
