I have just finished my first Program written completely in Visual Dialog Script 4

Its Called PC Protector, it is a simple program for locking any part of your computer, and Shutdown, reboot, logoff etc.

Please can some of you download and bug test, and evaluate it for me.

I have sent Tommy a version a while ago he must be very busy as I have had no feedback yet. Smile

Anyway links are as follows:

my homepage: http://www.metni.net

download link: http://www.metni.net/downloads/

Program info: http://www.metni.net/products/pcprotector/

Once again I thank you.

ps. Its shareware so it is restricted. But if some of you want I will send you the registration file (to unlock it) But i must have you insurance you will not pirate it etc.

Send me an email to get the key file:

nathan.clarke@metni.net

Hi,

I can't get it to run on my computer either. Sad It is telling it can't find its files.

Current folders are:
Installation= C:\Program Files\met\pc protector
System= C:\WINNT\system32\pc

My system is Win2k, P4 1.7, 256MB. None of the files or folder are marked Read Only.

I understand where is the problem

you didn't use @windir() fonction
and write C:\windows\system32\pc ti find your files

But my windows directory is not named windows
so your prog can't find is files

Please uses @windir() fonction
please let us choose the installation directory

finally I manage tu launch your prog but it still have an error
error 14 Line 170

perhaps you don't set the
option decimalsep, "."

oops! I just found out that this version was not meant for Win2k. Sorry about that.

Please disregard my other post. I have no Win9x/ME systems to work with at the moment. I'm sorry. Neutral

He did say it was his first program. And I remember some of my first programs, I also neglected to use the @windir() too. The @windir() is actually a common new programmer mistake. The new programmer is not so experienced outside of his own system and does not know that Windows can be installed in other locations or be under a different name. They usually picture everyone else has the same setup for windows as they do, so they hard code paths into their program.
