Does anyone know of an extension that will allow the converting of bitmaps (BMP)
to icon (ICO) files? Confused

I'm afraid I don't know of an extension that will do it. Normally what I do
is create my icons as bitmaps first with Paint or something and then import
the bitmap into the Icon Designer. I believe I posted a question very
similar to this one a few months ago and I couldn't get an answer either. Crying or Very sad

I will look into making an extension to do this though. I can't guarantee
anything right now though. Wink

An old trick, which worked for me, was to change the extension from "bmp" to "ico"...no conversion required!!

You will notice the change immediately, as the icon will change to the content of the bitmap!

Not sure if the size of the "ico" file will correspond, though...

Changing the extension does not make it a true icon file. In fact you wont' be able to use it as an icon either. The file headers for bitmaps and icons are completely different.
