In regards to the first article, it really doesn't matter within 5 years (if not sooner) AOL will be a dead company. Time Warner will eventually split off AOL or just merge in the internet subscribers into/under it's name.

Steve Case has recently resigned (6 months ago) and was also last week removed from being the director of a commitee in AOL/Time Warner. That committe actually was disolved and so too was Case's job.

AOL knows it needs to become 'buddies' with Microsoft otherwise AOL is guranteed to die. Winning the dialup war is a war not worth fighting for, broadband is where the technology and customers are going. Atleast one good thing can come from this - no more of those stupid AOL cd's in your mailbox.

As of about a month ago, Ted Turner, the Vice Chairman of the board @
AOL/Time Warner has also stepped down and sold 60 million shares (half
of his stake in the company) for about 784 million bucks. He was upset at
the losses the company has posted recently.

However, He and anyone in the financial comunty would still admit that
AOL is a VERY formidable company with the ability to put billions of
dollars behind new marketing or changing company direction. Also with
the marketing power of Time Warner they can present their message
easily to the world. AOL has been focusing on growing over seas (non-
US) markets where they can still gain a lot of market share. They are
still BY FAR the #1 internet service provider in the world and are not
likely to go away anytime soon in fact thier stock is kinda on a roll (up
about %50 over the last 3 or 4 months and expected to continue to climb
for the forseeable future. Old Teddy boy would have an additional 120
million bucks had he held onto those 60 million shares, ouch!

Becuase they survived thier lackluster stock performance over the last
24 months the AOL stock is likely grow and therefore grow the compny,
significantly.

Yes thats good also, but if you put an AOL CD in the tray also it gives a nice look. Wink

Also last xmas I decorated my tree with AOL CD's. They reflect with the lights.... Im going to miss these CD's.

My dog loves to chew on them after playing with them. My daughter made a nice little table for her barbies. My wife throws them at the racoons outside when they go play in our garbage.

And I also use them to scare off the flying pinguin that drops bombs and beer cans on my car. I never managed to hit him tho. Wonder who is that mask pinguin... hummm...

I just read they are suppose to be used for some sort of dial up thing? Wow, they are very useful for lots of things! Thanks AOL! Twisted Evil

Again I will miss them...

He he he
I made a fun-program a few years ago. When you start the program it says that there is a free gift from Coca-Cola ready for you. Just click here to get your free gift. And when clicking the button the CD tray opens and you could hear the Coca-Cola theme playing while a cola cap was rolling back and forth on the screen. Was very popular back then Laughing
