Hi,

has somebody some experience in printing offers, orders, invoices or deliveries from applications ?

I made an order management for my perfect-intranet and need some good design and print functionality for offers, invoices, etc.

So I made export to csv like I did it for serial letters and mails, but invoices are some more difficult that simple letters are.
I need adress areas, multiple product entries, multiple tax entries and so on.

I made one export which holds all data in different columns (hundreds of columns), and another export to multiple csv files. But word cannot handle
multiple csvs.

I looked into other applications. All of them have their own rtf-like editors for such things, but I don't know if I could handle good templates using the rtf objects available for vds (for example if I need to repeat a specific template area for displaying a article list).

Has somebody done such things with vds ?

Thanks for your help.

Bye, Fabian

You might be able to create a HTML file and put all info into that, and then use the "shell print" command to actually print it. Another way might be by creating (simple) RTF files from VDS and do the same trick for the printing... Smile

That's exactly how I handle printing within one of my apps. The program creates a nicely formatted HTML page and then prints with shell print. I also minimize the main window while the Print dialog is showing:

Code:

shell print,@path(%0)myfile.html
repeat
wait
until @winexists(Print)
window ontop,Print
window iconize,My Application
repeat
wait
until @not(@winexists(Print))

Cheers,

- Boo

This doesn't work with Windows XP (Pro) - it opens the .rtf file with Word and then asks whether or not it should print it Confused

Hi All,
I believe that VDSOBJ has a print function for it's RTF object Question If you can wait a little longer my Gadget.dll will be available with commands and functions to print the VDS Dialog like a form. The functions will be similar to that of VB's [form.]PrintForm method. It will allow for you to print the VDS Dialog as WYSIWYG. I am trying to make it possible to give you the option to print the buttons or scrub them from the print job. Once this is done that part of Gadget will be ready Wink

BTW Scrollable objects like Lists, Tables, Multi-line edits and combo boxes are also a thorn that I have to overcome. So the first versions of these commands and functions in Gadget will be limited to a single page or snapshot of the Dialog which is perfect for simple forms but for multi-page documents it may get a bit hairy Wink

Wow!!! Nice, that sounds extremely cool. Can't wait for that. Very Happy
Just wondering, though, does the form have to be visible to print it?

Hmmm, I have not tried that. I will let you know:-) Considering how it works I would not think so but I am not sure.

If it has to be visible, you can always move the form out of the screen and then print it... Smile
