Hi!

I just bought VDS and I read the tutorial of Jonathan Moss. He writes:

»Click on the help menu and select "Tutorial". Then when the window appears select Lesson one and follow the instructions. To progress to the next page of the tutorial click the >> Button.«

I don't have "Tutorial" in the help menu. Where else can I find that?

I need to learn how to use the basic commands (Repeat, Until, Goto, IF, END, EXIT and Wait) and functions (@input(), @succ(), @null(), @Event(), @equal() and @datetime()) like the Tutorial was supposed to teach.

The VDS manual is already a little too complicated for me.

I bought VDS because it was supposed to be a lot easier than Visual Basic. But now I find it more complicated because I can't find simple instructions.

Can anybody help me?

Oliver

Hello and welcome to the forums. The best way to learn vds is through example. Check out the demos installed on your computer: C:\Program Files\Visual DialogScript\Demos\ ; or in the directory you installed VDS.

Also you can ask on these forums for help with any of the commands/functions; however before doing so please try to test out the function/command in VDS by itself to see how it operates and that may give you an idea of it's operation.

I seem to recall there was a tutorial with the older versions, but it was a lot higher level than you are expecting. It just went through the steps to create a very simple application. It didn't go through each command.

Most of the commands in the manual have a simple example that show it in context. Apart from this, try out the example scripts supplied, as PG recommended.

I have wrote a small tutorial which explained how to create a dialog, but it's completely in Dutch. How about translating it into English? I can do the basic stuff, but because it is a bit long, and I don't want to fall into repeat... Smile Let me know if somebody want to help by checking my rough English version of it... Smile
