Is there a way to change the default VDS 4.5 compiler icon? Maybe it is in one of the VDS .dsr files, but in that case I don't think it would be possible to change it, and I also do not think it is included in the VDS executable... _________________ FreezingFire

Do you mean the VDS Icon on your desktop (or wherever),
or the default icon used in your EXE when you compile a
program?

OK, I have VDS3, so yours may be different...
Copy another icon(s) that you prefer to your VDS folder.
When the "Create EXE" window pops up, press the little
button by the default icon, and you can choose a different
one before compiling.
If this is different on VDS4, somebody else will have to
help ya out...

I think you musunderstood me; I should have been clearer...how can we change the default icon, the icon that shows up every time you want to compile a program... _________________ FreezingFire

Oh, sorry.
I doubt you can without a hack...
I don't know what the VDS4 compiler default looks like,
but if you have an icon editor you can open the VDS EXE
and DLL files until you find it. That'd let ya know where
it is for a start.

That's ok...
Yeah, that's what I thought...I would need to look in the resource files and dll's for it...then replace it... _________________ FreezingFire

Is there a specific reason you need to do this?
Depending on why you need this I may be able to give you instructions on how to do it. |

Hi PGWARE,
The reason I would like to do this is because I would like to change the default icon to, say, my company's icon...so that when I compile a program each time I don't have to click browse for it.
I am not a hacker or cracker or something; that is not what I am here to do... _________________ FreezingFire

| Ok here is how to do it. Search the internet for a program called REPLACEICON.ZIP , the file in this zip will let you change any programs icon. It will even let you change vds compiled exe's to use any resolution of icons too. |

You can also use Reshacker... then it's even possible to change other stuff in (vds).exe's ...
Ps. maybe you must use ******* to decompress vds.exe... ******* |

Yes, someone suggested resourcehacker to me...
It seems like a useful tool; you can even include .manifest files inside your .exe to update the controls for win xp with it... _________________ FreezingFire

About using the ******* tool, I doubt that would be legal as it contributes to the decompilation process of VDS...
