I seem to have a problem getting Tommy's vdsdb.dll to work properly on any 64 bit version of Windows.
Anyone have any ideas on the subject? In fact, has anyone heard from Tommy the last few years? I wonder if he would be willing to release the source so that someone might update it for 64bit systems. I have a feeling this is going to be a more prominent issue as time goes by.
Dragonsphere, I wouldn't be suprised if there was a way to communcate with SQL using GadgetX (I'm hoping anyway ) I can do it in VBS so I'm guessing that chances are good. |

I suspect you installed a 64-bit version of MySQL? The vdsdb likely is calling the 64bit dll and that won't work. Is it possible for you to use the 32bit version of MySQL? as it will work fine on a 64bit OS.
I doubt there is any fix available for a 32bit process to call/load a 64bit dll. |

Hiya P
In this instance I'm trying to use the vdsdb.dll on Windows XP 64bit to talk to M$SQL that is on another server. Vdsdb uses ODBC and I suspect that might be where my problem is since it's trying to connect to a 64bit driver. |

I got this handled so I thought I'd share
There is a builtin 32 bit SQL server driver on Windows x64 systems.
The solution is that you have to create a 32bit DSN. (The ODBC tool in admin tools is for 64bit DSN)
You can create it in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\ODBC\ODBC.INI\<yourDSNhere>
-OR-
You can create it with the builtin utility:
%WINDIR%\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe
I hope this is just as helpful to others as it is for me. |
