#Progman is no longer the desktop ... at least it is not on my system. It IS however on my virtual box of Window 8. On my system I did an upgrade so that might be why, but it is very odd... Anyone know why this is and how to "find" the desktop in VDS?

have you tried WindowSpy to see what it is now?

Yes, It is just a generic windows explorer reading. Reads as the parent as being #WorkerW which is used by all windows explorer windows.
