I want to try and write some scripts that can be executed from within a webpage. Is there any good documents explaining how to do this using VDS or can someone tell me simply how it can be done. I am using VDS 4.

Cheers

As far as I know, this can only be done via the cgi-bin on a Win/NT based
server. If you have access to the above, here's an article explaining how
to make a cgi program:
http://www.vdsworld.com/index.php?page=download&fileid=1
and also here's an example of a guest book for
a web site:
http://www.vdsworld.com/index.php?page=download&fileid=113

You may also take a look at I believe the VDSDLL 2.7 as it has a dll that
can also work with the cgi.

Hello:
It depends on what you want to do. I would suggest you start with tommy's dll vdsinet documentation. I would be glad to assist.

Hi, Hedge!

I dunno if you run your own Web server. If not, you may experience difficulties in being allowed to put EXE files on a space
provider's servers because executable files are generally considered too great a security risk.
Many space providers only allow access to Perl scripts (sometimes only standard Perl scripts) and languages that can be embedded
directly into the Web pages (PHP and ASP).

Thank you for your help on this. I did not actually realise what it involved.

I will use plan B!

It's not really complicated.. Sure, you have to learn a few new things... But the biggest problem is basically getting a server that will let you run exe's in the cgi-bin.
