I believe you want:

  %P = @sendmsg(@win(~Edit1),$0301,0,0)
  info %P


Replace Edit1 with the name of your EDIT Element.
Note that the API Msg used for this will copy the highlighted string to the clipboard..you might want to save what is in the clipboard, then use the API msg and then set the clipboard to what it was originally.
