Either the VDSOBJ.DLL or the VDSELM.DLL has a GRID Element in it. But! I don't know if it has Multi select or not.

You can use text elements to make a grid with
clickable squares (similar to the VDS color picker
in the VDS3 source code section). And with the VDS4
@mousedown() function you could select more than
one, but I'm still not exactly sure what ya want...

Am I the only one here that doesn't know exactly
what a multi-select grid is? Confused

Cheers, Mac Smile

Yeah Mac, it's just you. This GRID thing is like Modern Technology which
can't be found on the ancient relic computers. Hehehehehehehee Wink

Mac, the GRID is basically what you see like in a Spreadsheet program.
It has rows and columns like tables in html.

LOL, thanks genius... Razz Laughing

I know what a grid is. It's the multi-select
part I was wonderin' about...

Does it allow multiple cells to be "selected"?
If so, are only adjoining ones selected? And
what would it be used for? Confused

Cheers, Mac Smile

Ahhhhhh..... Yeah, not sure about the one in the dll. But I'm sure it's
possible for these types of elements to have multiple select. How
reasonable in what would be allowed is beyond me though. My guess
would be like a list element.... The whole line would be selected as part
of the multi selection.

LOL, so you're just guessin' too... Laughing

Maybe nodnarb will explain exactly what a
multi-select grid does, and why he wants
one... Wink

Geesh! Wasn't I specific enough ROFL Wink

Okay, so I admit it, my question was VERY vauge Embarassed

What I want is something alot like a spreadsheet grid, with multi select by holding down shift for a block selection, individual selection by holding down control would be nice but not necessary (and I can't even visualize how that would work). What would be returned in a value from shift selection is the original block selected 0|0 to the end of the selection 5|6.

I'm thinking about just having the user copy and paste on the end selection block then all blocks in the vector will populate appropriately but that isn't very good gui design in my opinion Sad

I think you're prolly outta luck with key/mouse click
combinations, unless someone has a DLL that allows
that.

Here's some thoughts (LOL - if I understand what you're
doin' yet...):

You should be able to use left or right click in VDS4 with
the @mousedown() function to select grids. In VDS3
you'd have to "click" to start selection, then "click again"
to stop.

Or... you could toggle each grid on/off then retrieve all
grids that were toggled (and have a "select all" option
to keep from clicking every grid individually).

BTW, I'm talkin' about using text elements for the grid... Wink

Yeah, you're not going to find that ability in a VDS Grid Element at this
time. I know exactly what you are talking about now and I haven't seen
that ability in VDS yet. The Grid with the VDSOBJ.DLL definitely doesn't
have that ability.

vdslists.dll from Tommy will do most of what is wanted, although I found it difficult to extract data once selected.

I would defenitly use such a feature if it would exists. It should be added in either VDSLISTS or VDSOBJ.... Wink Up to Tommy or PGWARE to decide.

Thanks.
