I'm sure this is easy and I overlooked it also, but I can't figure it out. How do you read the first seven digits of a string? For example, if you had:

1234567 other text text text

How would you read just the "1234567"?

INFO @substr(%s, 1, 7)

Char positions are counted from 1.
