This pertains to VDS 5.0
I am trying to create a simple dialog with a browser element

However everytime I try to run it I get the VDS Error Box

Error Invalid Parameter to command
any ideas?

Code:

DIALOG CREATE,New Dialog,-1,0,240,160
REM *** Modified by Dialog Designer on 6/30/2003 - 17:17 ***
  DIALOG ADD,BROWSER,BROWSER101,37,23,150,150,http://www.dialogscript.com
  DIALOG SHOW

  Wait Event

Try this:

Code:
EXTERNAL VDSBRW50.DLL
DIALOG CREATE,New Dialog,-1,0,240,160
REM *** Modified by Dialog Designer on 6/30/2003 - 17:17 ***
  DIALOG ADD,BROWSER,BROWSER101,37,23,150,150,http://www.dialogscript.com
  DIALOG SHOW

  Wait Event

You will need to re-distrubute the VDSBRW50.DLL every time you make
a program that requires a browser element. Smile

Shocked
So, I am to assume that even though the element is included in the dialog creator elements, it is not a part of the vdsrun50.dll and that I already installed the Internet Suite 2.0 component?
Shocked

No, no. Wink

See, the browser element DLL was most likely created to reduce the size
of the runtime so that it didn't carry unneccessary bulk. Smile

Internet Suite 2.0 doesn't need to be installed. All you have to distribute
with your package is:

Code:

* YOUR.EXE
* VDSRUN50.DLL
* VDSBRW50.DLL

Also, it requires Internet Explorer 5 to be installed, which would be a bit of a bummer for those programs that don't even use a browser element.

In the URL field of the browser demo the current page is not reflected (ie I click on a link and it does not update with the new pages URL.

Is there a way to do this?

Thanks.

  DIALOG ADD,BROWSER,BROWSER1,5,20,150,150,http://www.dialogscript.com
  DIALOG SHOW
wait event
info @browser(browser1,url)
exit

Commercial-Research still has things in the works. Wink

As of now it's just been trial-and-error for me... this is my theory:

If you want to use a function, use:

Code:
%A = @browser({BROWSER_NAME},{function})

And for a command:

Code:
BROSWER {parameter},{BROWSER_NAME},{parameter}

Does anyone have a full list of commands and functions for the Browser element.

This is what I have from the demo...

BROWSER BACK,{Browser_Name}
BROWSER FORWARD,{Browser_Name}
BROWSER STOP,{Browser_Name}
BROWSER REFRESH,{Browser_Name}
BROWSER PRINT,{Browser_Name}

@browser({Browser_Name},busy)
@browser({Browser_Name},url)
@browser({Browser_Name},name)

Hi Nathan. Right now Commercial Research is working on all of this... in
the near future you will probably see some updates with information such
as this. Smile

Good to hear, FF.

Hopefully they'll look into a way to allow the tab, del and backspace to operate normally, too, when the browser element has the focus.

Regards

Nathan
