I'm not going to make this into a political discussion because that typically leads into people fighting or getting mad at each other; so I won't say who I'm voting for. Very Happy

But for those of us here in the US and old enough to go vote, please go and vote tomorrow (tuesday - nov 2) for the candidate of your choice. It is important to vote, and it is something you have the power to do. Taking a few minutes out of your day to vote obviously won't hurt you in anyway so please go and do it. Oh and while you're at it please paypal me $1,000 Smile that won't hurt either, ehheheheeh Twisted Evil

Yes Skit you have to register, but you only need to register once in your life - unless you move then you need to register in the new area you moved to.

Why don't they just send everybody who is 18 years or older a voting-card or something? Now, if somebody wants to vote today but isn't registrated as a voter, they have to wait 4 years... Confused

In the Netherlands, votes are also always on normal working days, so that people can vote in their breaks... Smile If they do it on Saturdays here, most people are doing sports and that kind of things, so they don't have time to vote... Smile

We always vote on the first tuesday of November. I think they do this (i'm not 100% sure) is because Monday is right after the weekend and most people would be in work and might be too lazy to want to go vote. By Tuesday people have already gotten use to the workweek and wouldn't mind taking part of tuesday off to go vote Smile

AGain that's my theory I'm not sure why it is actually this way; but hey my idea sounds good.

I heard in Australia you are forced to go vote? Anyone of legal age is required to go vote or they are fined?

Over here, there used to be a law which forced you to vote also, but they changed it into the right to vote. This was to prevent that people who are on holidays during elections, had to pay monetary penalties or even get to jail because they didn't vote.

You can't turn the tv on here without hearing about the election, it will get even worse tonight as polls start to close.

Skit do you not have the tv channel CNN?

We have CNN, BBC, MSNBC, and so on, but all Dutch TV channels report about a liquidation of a famous Dutch person, called Theo van Gogh. You can read more about it here, if you don't want to view those election-shows... Wink

Edit: Even in England it is frontpage-news: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/

'liquidation'

Don't think I've ever heard anyone call murder that. I thought you meant he filed bankruptcy or something, then I open the url and find out he was murdered.
