I have been using the FTP.dsc script that comes with VDS 5 and it was working great, then I moved to a new apartment, hooked up my computer and it just stoped working. It works fine on my wifes computer. She is running the same OS and even on the same type of computer with the same hardware. The only think I can think of is it would be a setting somewhere that was changed somehow. I disabled my firewalls and it still will not work. It connects to an FTP site can change to a different dir but cannot upload or get a list of files in a directory. Any ideas?

Thanks.

Here is a possible idea:

http://www.ftpplanet.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/003199.html

That links to a discussion group about a problem with FTP access not working after changing to SP2 under win XP.

Don't know if it helps with your situation, though.

Maybe change in ISP? Some packets may be blocked by certain providers, I'm not saying ftp is blocked but packets for authentication and access control could be. Try using passive mode on/off for the ftp program. Try using a normal ftp program as well to see if you are allowed in.

I am using the same ISP as before. I can access FTP with another FTP program. I tried passive mode on/off in internet settings and that didn't help either. It's driving me nuts. It worked before and all I did was move my computer and turn it on... ugg.... Crying

If you don't mind what is the ftp server you are trying to upload to? It could be the ftp software on the server was upgraded or changed and the ftp.dsc is not compatible with that ftp server software.

The server belongs to a client of mine (quikonnex.com). I thought that also, but, I tried it on my wifes computer and it works fine. Confused I haven't tried it on my vds world site yet. I'll try that when I get home but I think I'll still have the same problem. It must be something on my computer. I only use the firewall that is in windows, I disable that...no luck. I have closed other programs that access the internet to see if there might be a conflict...no luck either. I can't for the life of me figure out why it's not working anymore.

Well, I still couldn't get it to work, so I switched to using VDSIPP. My program works fine now.

Thanks PG. Smile
