Can anyone confirm that autorun.inf files for usb devices do not run on Windows 7? I cannot for the life of me get one to work with anything I set it for at all.

Disregard, no confirmation needed. I finally found some info on MS site which does state that autorun for usd devices is gone in order to cover MS ass over trojan/malware issues that were related to the autorun feature for usb devices.

Honestly, this does kind of piss me off because I used the autorun.inf on a few of my usb devices to run some of my programs, and now this ability is removed which means I have now open the folder to the usb device, scan the list to look for my program and run it. I know, like it's going to kill me to take an extra minute to do this, but hey! that's an extra minute that I really didn't want to freakin give up! Razz

Frak! this really messes up some plans I had too. This also kills things like SeaJay and Port'Launch too. Sad

Are you sure? I haven't tested but try the following.

Go here: Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\AutoPlay

At the top make sure 'Use Autoplay for all media and devices' is checked.

Then check the Software and games drop down list, choose 'Install or run program from your media'.

I spent the day checking settings and trying it out. That was before I read the info on the MS site.
